Nightside Project host Ethan Millard interviews punk rock legend Mike Peters of The Alarm.  Originally from Wales, Mike toured the world with The Alarm and other major acts like U2 and Bob Dylan.

After seeing Sex Pistols in concert, Mike started his own band, The Toilets.

Mike was diagnosed with cancer and continues to live with it and fight against it.

His Love Hope Strength organization matches blood and bone marrow donors to patients in desperate need.

A new documentary film, Man In The Camo Jacket, beautifully illustrates his story.

Ethan Millard and Alex Kirry are usually all for new technology but Popular selfie platform FaceApp pulled several new racially themed filters from its app shortly after introducing them due to a slew of backlash.  This isn't the good new tech.  But it is pretty funny to laugh at these filters trying to handle President Donald Trump.  Plus a zenheadlines story out of Japan, Wendy's is introducing a burger that is the Burger patties for buns.  Amazing.

Ethan Millard and Alex Kirry start the show talking about what appeared to be a fully-autonomous van being testing without a driver inside on the streets of Arlington, Virginia last week. It caused quite a controversy but as NBC Washington discovered the truth isn't quite that futuristic—although it is a whole lot weirder.  Plus a #zenheadlines story of a dog saving another dog's life as Tank the Pitbull saves a poodle.  Millard isn't impressed.

Aug 10, 2017

Alex Kirry and Ethan Millard start things off discussing the recent Solar Eclipse and the whether or not said eclipse will be the beginning of paranormal activity in South Carolina.  Apparently, the South Carolina Emergency Actions Dept. tweeted out that they urge people to report any sightings to them.  Lizardman and Bigfoot are very real in these parts.  And #zenheadlines brings celebrity Chef Anne Burrell will be whipping up Cheetos-based creations for a pop up restaurant in New York.  Tasty.

Aug 8, 2017

Alex Kirry and Ethan Millard laugh together after Summit County officials apologized for a particularly controversial rendition of the National Anthem at the county fair's annual demolition derby held over the weekend.  Listen to it here.  The off-key performance caused many to wonder whether the performer was completely sober, though others have speculated that she may not have been able to hear properly.

The truth is starting to come out on the story that began with a lot of hot air it seems.  Ethan Millard and Alex Kirry begin the episode discussing the unfortunate incident that occurred at the Raleigh Airport in North Carolina on an American Airlines flight. When it was reported that "flatulence" had been the cause of people deplaning a flight.  According to several local news outlets, including WNCN and The Charlotte Observer, officials at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) explained that an American Airlines aircraft was forced to evacuate on Sunday evening after a passenger “passed gas” on the plane. The International Business Times, too, reported that the stench was so bad “it caused nausea and headaches” among passengers.

Plus, a #zenheadline courtesy of TurdsNTreats from Twitter who has given us this great story of Mo, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever from Idaho who survived the entire winter in the mountains on his own and was finally found a by a family who saw him skinny and falling over by the road.  He had previously been lost on a hunting trip 9 months ago in the Rocky Mountains.  What a cute puppy.
